About the Davis Hall

The Davis Hall is a modern village hall in West Camel, Somerset offering a superb venue for classes, meetings, or parties.

Opened in 2001, the Hall is light and warm with ‘more comfortable than the average’ chairs.

The Main Hall has a sprung maple floor ideal for dancing and exercise.

There is a permanent stage with state of the art lighting and sound systems controlled from a gallery at the southern end of the hall.

The Committee Room is carpeted and ‘cosy’ for meetings of up to 28 people .  There is a highspeed broadband connection enabling Computer Club, Courses and ‘Drop In’ support sessions.

The Kitchen is fully equipped including  a range cooker,  commercial dishwasher and water boiler for drinks; there is matching cutlery and crockery for 120.

All areas apart from the stage are fully accessible.

The car park has thirty marked bays and two disabled spaces.  More cars can be accommodated by organised arrangement (event organisers double park as they will be last to leave) provided always that there is access for emergency vehicles.

The Hall is licensed for Alcohol, Music, Dancing, The Performance of Plays, Showing Films and Indoor Sports.  Numbers permitted in the main hall are 324 or 108 seated at tables and 60 or 20 at tables in the Committee Room.

We hold all three Hallmark Certificates:

  • Hallmark 1 – Charity Administation and Management
  • Hallmark 2 –  Health, Safety, Security and Licencing
  • Hallmark 3 –  Community/Social Awareness, forward planning and development

These have to be checked and renewed every three years.  We last renewed, for the fourth time, in 2016.  They prove that the Committee are up to the mark and effective and that all health and safety aspects are regularly monitored.

We are open on Thursday  Mornings from 9.15 to 11.30 a.m. for coffee and cake, Post Office, Cards, Books, a selection from The Bakery.  Eggs and garden produce as available.

Ceiling (dropped height) 3.9m  i.e. room for bouncy castles

Committee Room:  4.5m x 7m

Tables 1830 x 760   There are 18 but some are higher than others – colour coded on trolleys.

There are also 16 x two foot square tables

Kitchen: 5.32m x 4.80m

Hiring for fundraising for Charity at Booking Secretary’s discretion.  Residents rates may apply.

For late night parties finishing at midnight requiring a hall member to lock up a £50 Bond, refundable provided conditions are fully met, will be required.

 Cancellation Charges:

Commercial bookings with less than 21 days notice,

50% of hiring charges.

All others by arrangement with Booking Secretary.
